Can't login in the game though registered through Facebook

Thank you for noticing this. For now, a password is generated for Facebook users that they can use to log in to the game with. It is displayed right under the download buttons.

Hope this helps. We mean to see if it's possible to put a Facebook Connect button right in the game, but we don't know yet.

Why is this necessary? I thought this was supposed be be a semi-serious science endeavor. Now it's degraded to catering to the teeny-bopper social networking mob that lives in places Facebook and MySpace.

Don't be ridiculous. We've discussed this before. First, Foldit is intended for anyone to play and contribute. Second, if Facebook is a good way of attracting casual gamers to Foldit, then it is eminently sensible to integrate with it.
