This is expected. The devprev client uses a new solution file format that can't be opened by previous clients. It's noted in the release notes.

Had I know this before I started 672, I would never have used devprev for it. Now I am stuck with it.

You can find the release notes in the Foldit data files directory, in the file cmp-resources-[current version]/release-notes.txt. I've updated the FAQ page with this information as well.
