Solutions and quicksaves written by the latest client in devprev (HBond release) are incompatible with the existing client. Trying to load a quicksave will hang the client. This is relevant for users with a 'main' client as well as those running different client releases on different machines.
I was using the 20150417-e580c0b862-win_x86-devprev version of Foldit.
I was working on evoing puzzle 1075.
I got a message in a box: "Error opening 0305739309.ir_shared.solution.ir_solution for read.
I'm having trouble reproducing this.
Can you give an exact workflow that reproduces this crash?
I was using the 20150417-e580c0b862-win_x86-devprev version of Foldit.
I opened an old puzzle that I had been working on using older versions of Foldit.
I crashed and got the following dump (see attached file).
Both of those log files are for crashes of the devprev client. BP is describing a crash on old clients from solutions generated by the new client. Are you describing a different problem?
Probably different Beltchley Park uses clients on different machines. I just use one machine. I have problems when I load files saves made by devprev several releases back. BP does mention devprev clients though.
I have repeated the test and this time the old client does not crash and work as expected. Maybe I did something wrong with my previous test or it may be a data dependent issue. I'll file a new report if it happens again. For now I'm happy. You may close the issue.
I just registered with Foldit and worked through about four of the very first tutorial screens and the program crashed. I have an old Mac with Mac OS X 10.7.5.
I am a computer illiterate, but 10.7 seems very close to 10.7.5. Is there anything I could do to play the game on the computer I have?
Thank you,
Denver (MoabUtah)
