I started a group a week ago. It was gaining in rank and suddenly it has fallen off the list and is ranked below the last in the groups list. This is not very encouraging for the group members. Especially since several of them have been quite highly ranked on some of the puzzles.

This happened because almost all of your group's points came from beginner's puzzles (<15 and <150)

But your global score of 0 points is not correct, there should be 1 point from rank #25 in 128: Grand Challenge 9 http://fold.it/portal/node/985685/show_groups
In the group list http://fold.it/portal/groups?page=2 your group is on rank #109 with 1 global point, the statement on your group page (#10000, 0 points) is wrong. Group pages are sometimes a bit laggy.
The lag on the group pages has now too been fixed.
