Are you speaking of in-game chat? Or are you connecting via external IRC?

If you are connecting via IRC, you will need to adjust your settings to connect to:

host: irc.fold.it
port: 6667

Tried connecting to port 6667 but the channel list doesn't show anything
I created a Contenders channel but that didn't pick up the members of the group who are logged in

port 6665 still shows all the usual channels but you can't join that port

Be sure you are connecting to irc.fold.it as the server - don't use a numeric IP address. Try not specifying a port number - it should work with the default port.

It might help to describe the error you are getting - what happens when you try to connect, what happens when you try to join global or veteran, what happens when you try to join your team room, what happens when you try to view the list of rooms.

Try opening a command prompt and typing "ping irc.fold.it" (without the quotes) - you may or may not get a reply from the ping, but it should tell you what IP address it is using. It should be using 34.192.50.232 (but don't use this in your irc client, use irc.fold.it).

I pinged irc.fold.it from windows 10.
The address that came back is 34.192.50.232
Which is correct.
But the error from all the irc programs tried,
was the foldit server would not respond and timed out.
Every single client had that same error.
Do you understand it is on your side!

Now of the chat options work, not in-game, not group, general nor the others.
irc does not connect with the server timing out, not resonding.
