No Sound Windows 7 Home SP1

just downloaded & installed (07/25/2017) and am getting no sound at all. Everything else on my computer is making sound just fine. :-(

The game sound was disabled a while ago because the sound library they were using was crashing the game on some newer machines. Hopefully they'll eventually find time to put it back in.
