Older version of New Chapter doesn't try to update

My desktop computer at home seems to be stuck on an older version of New Chapter:

20140124-f53e76b7b6-win_x86-newchapter

It doesn't try to start any download and when I go to the Science puzzle menu it shows none of the current puzzles. I suppose I can download and install the current version manually, but it makes me wonder how many other people have encountered the same problem.

Maybe it has something to do with being "newchapter" instead of "devprev", but I didn't change anything on my notebook. I suppose it can be chalked up to an "install sequence" issue of some sort. Probably no need to look into it.

I changed "newchapter" to "devprev" and the update started after starting the client again.
