Reconnecting a not connected client still fails

Noticed that the scores were not updating.
The reconnect button tells I am still connected, but that is not true.
Clicked the button and the client hangs.
Btw, the IRC connection reconnect did work in that client.

The reconnect button is for IRC only. It isn't intended to do anything other than reconnect you to chat.

Lately it seems I've had many clients disconnect so the scores they show aren't up to date and so when I try to refresh shares, Open/Share Solutions, or download a new Recipe from the website in them, these clients hang and need to be restarted. It also seems that usually these disconnected clients have recent undeleted upload*.ir_solution files in the directory where their scriptlog.default.xml and log.txt files appear.

Is there a way to tell if this is a problem with my machines/internet-provider or if it is instead due to the Foldit site? My guess is that too many upload*.ir_solution files get uploaded to the Foldit site at the same time so that not all go through. The clients with unsuccessful uploads then disconnect from the Foldit site and cause the behaviors above to occur.

I've been told that the Foldit site regularly saves copies of our latest structures whether or not we save and share them. I think these regular automatic saves go via the upload*.ir_solution files. If a client has disconnected from the Foldit site as in my previous comment, does this mean the automatic saves are no longer occurring for that client? Do you really want to be losing all this potentially useful data about our structures and their evolution?

The upload*.ir_solution files actually aren't the regular uploads that we look at. These files specific to scripts - when you start a script, it creates this file to give us a snapshot of what the protein looked like when you started the script.

The regular analysis solutions are handled separately.

When I said the reconnect button didnt work and hangs the client it mean the button that says "You seem to be connected to the foldit servers. Click to recheck". Scores not updating->not connected and check hangs the client.
