It seems that when many clients have run for a long time or when the PC was restarted from hibernation several times, one or more Windows resources, required to start new applications, are depleted. This issue has existed for a very long time but is annoying when it happens. Often the PC cannot even shut down normally anymore and must be turned off with the power button. I suspect a file handle or window handle leak.
On another note; Foldit seems to fragment the harddrive a lot since the last major release. I often have to defragment the harddrive. Foldit is the only application running.
