When I start foldit, the window is never maximized, so I always need to maximize it at startup. And I need to maximize it to see all buttons. The save and exit button for instance is not in my view. Even when maximized, I only see it half. Just enough to click it fortunately ;)
So, which display resolution do you use?
800x600?
Using Windows, you can also close Foldit with by clicking right on its taskbar entry and select "Close".
Then, "Save and Exit?" will also appear.
display resolution is 1024x768. This only happens on my laptop (Intel 945 GM express chipset). On my desktops I never had this problem.
Thanks for the taskbar tip. As I said it is hardly a problem as I can still use the button, but just a remark, you never know.
My Pleasure.
Laptop… 1024x768 on a laptop?
Are you sure it is the right resolution for your laptop-display? What does it's manual say?
As far as I can remember, the NEW non-cathode-displays (LED,TFT, Plasma whatever) most times use "strange" resultion values, so nothing like 800x600, 1024x768 or even 1152x864, because they have another screen aspect proportion (similar difference between 4:3 and 16:9 on TV), cutsomized to the laptop's measurements.
My father's and sister's PC also use a non-cathode-Diplay (TFT), and Windows assigned them 1024x768 as "default" (they were wondering why the display wasn't this sharp), but…
As I've read the description of the displays, it read that the resolution is… pff… don't remember exactly… let's say 1200x700 or something like this.
If you use a NVIDIA driver, you can set the resolution manually… if you know the right resolution.
This even happened at my father's office.
He got a new PC, wondering why the picture insn't sharp.
They took a compatible default resolution, but not the exact one fitting to this display.
Another idea:
The Display resolution is right, but the game takes the Desktop's resolution (for example using a 1024x768 DISPLAY and use a DESKTOP SIZE of 1152x864),
so it is like having a big table but seeing only a part of it.
Plus, maybe the game doesn't respect the screen aspect proportion at all and/or it has only been tested on widescreen displays, which RELATIVELY offer more pixel in width than in depth.
It could be something with the program using a different resolution, because everything is relatively bigger than when running fold.it on a desktop. If it were because it is only tested on widescreens, then every laptop player would see the same thing I suppose, and I see no other people with that remark..
I'll test the resolution issue now on another PC.
Sorry, if I have not expressed well enough.
With "widescreen", I meant a big PC-Display, not a small one used on laptops.
Those PC-displays mostly relatively(!) offer more pixel in width than laptop displays.
I know some people, who only play foldit on laptop, so they can't compare it to a "normal" screen.
So, what is the name of your laptop model?

Alex
my laptop is a Dell Latitude D520 (intel core duo T2400, 1gig RAM, mobile 945 GM express chipset..)
Man, this is really a crazy thing!
So, your laptop screen HAS standard-measurements,and you PC-screens use them, too?
When I adjust the resolution to 1024x768 on my PC and launch the game, it also truncates the "Save and Exit"-button.
