I think some spammers found a hole in the forum's spam filter.
The last posts in
http://fold.it/portal/node/761789
http://fold.it/portal/node/986222 and
http://fold.it/portal/node/986533
are all camouflaged spam (see the link at the bottom of each post)
And in response to a news post ( http://fold.it/portal/node/986645 ).
There's little we can do; these all appear to be humans, with messages sometimes almost relevant, though I don't think any of them have a firm grasp of English or much time to read the posts.
At another forum I administer, we had to end up taking some quite onerous measures – you would not be allowed to post links, images, or even create an avatar or signature until you had made 5 posts. But I don't think we need to be so drastic here yet. So for the time being, I'm closing this issue. The two spammers and their posts are gone.
