Zebra-striped sidechains!

Howdy, y'all.

With the last upgrade (which included recipes), my display has gone screwy. All sidechains appear black, with light grey / white stripes.

Because I'm red-green colorblind, I play in "colorblind" mode. But even when the display is set to use the default colors, the sidechains are all colored the same… and are striped. See the attached .jpg for details.

This is really hurting my play; because now I can't tell what's hydrophobic and what's not.

It doesn't matter how I view the puzzles: every view shows the sidechains colored incorrectly. I changed nothing to cause this. The problem happened when the newest update was loaded into my system.

P,

I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. I'm just a dumb ol' Texas redneck. :-)

There's a sticker on my machine that says "Graphics by ATI - Radeon Xpress 200". Is that helpful? And I am running Windows XP… if "OS" means "operating system".

I can't state this enough times: everything was well until the last update. Nothing changed on my computer. There is something wrong with the last update. I started over from scratch with a new re-load of Foldit, and I still have this same problem.

Additionally, every time I try to upload or download a group solution, Foldit crashes. But that's the subject of another bug report.

I went to that site. It told me I had to upload some other Windows program I have never heard of, before I could even consider getting the newest video driver. Since I really don't know what I'm doing, I am not taking the risk of screwing up my machine. I'd sooner go play another game.

Can someone who runs this site please address this bug?

If not, could someone please tell me how to re-load the last version of Foldit, the one just before the introduction of recipes? And can someone please tell me how to NOT accept further updates?

Hmm, I'm not sure if it's possible to revert, and it might cause "bad" things to happen.

Do you know what it asked you to update? Was it Direct X ? If so that's the way windows talks to your hardware, and should be updated to get the best performance.

It is being addressed by someone, but the soonest your issue would be fixed would be the next update, so I wouldn't hold out for anything sooner than a week. However, you will get an email when the issue is resolved, so you will know when you can play again.
