i get an error saying "SSL CA cert(path?, access rights?), Error contacting server."

what do i do? i can only play offline

Try "disable network timeouts" and wait for all updates ends.

wut do you mean disable network, where would i type that in? That statement i typed originally shows when i click on play online icon.

i dont see that option only connect using proxy and remember password. Interesting, do i have an old version of the software?

Maybe try uninstalling and downloading a fresh copy of Foldit

clicking proxy twice, sometimes it helps show all options.

still nothing, what is going on i dont understand this?

Windows 7 version has no disable timeout option, but keeps failing to login. It also appears that it can't connect to the server for updates…
