Do the scientists look at solutions sent to them them from contests?
Such as a cancer one?

http://fold.it/portal/info/faq#contests says the following:
What is the difference between a contest and a puzzle? A contest is set up by players like you, and is not looked at, scored, or affiliated with our scientists here at the labs.
I wonder if the Foldit team would send you pdb files of the structures made in a contest.
They sent out pdb files for CASP puzzles so teams could pick which models to submit.
Perhaps they could do the same for contests.
Do you know any research groups studying GTPase Ras or other proteins from the contests?
Perhaps these scientists would like to see our results.
Did you see the news about a study of cancer?
Apparently no matter how healthly your
lifestyle is doesn't make a difference.
It is pure chance, a role of a dice to get cancer.
Pure chance
I hadn't seen that, do you have a link for us?
Lung cancer is less likely to occur if you don't smoke.
For other cancers it is caused by random mutation.
The Doctor said finding any cancer early helps.
And it never hurts to eat right, exercise and live healthy.
Impossible to stop a mutation.
