Because we, Contenders, are sick and tired of groups cheating to get high scores.
Invalidate the scores for the current CASP puzzles, they were gained through manipulation, including my own to demonstrate my point, of the scoring system.
Are you noticing any decline in really useful scientific results while joke structures are corrupting the scoreboard and ratings ? Corrupted scores affect not only this type of puzzles, they affect every puzzle as the willingness to search for better solutions deminishes in favour of making fake structures for points here. Invalidate scores that do not have a CL bonus !
Thank you for increasing the CL bonus in small molecule puzzles to 2000 points in order to weed out joke structures. Might I suggest to up that bonus to the 10.000 points range just in case ?
