The scientists are working with an enzyme protein derived from E. coli that takes in protons and puts out hydrogen, which could be used for fuel. But the enzyme is easily degraded by heat or other environmental factors. So they have encased it in a virus shell (also made of proteins) to protect it, making it 150 times more efficient.
