Foldit has several ways of showing you what is right or wrong with a protein.
There is the
<ul><li>"clash" - a red spiky ball between two atoms that are too close
</li><li>"void" - a transparent sphere in an empty space in the protein structure</li><li>"bond" - a blue striped line between well-connected atoms</li></ul>and finally the
<ul><li>"exposed hydrophobic marking" - a red arrow on hydrophobic sidechains that are sticking out</li></ul>I'm thinking that we need a better name for "exposed hydrophobic marking" than "exposed hydrophobic marking". ;) Something short, one syllable, easy to remember and understand. Something like "clash" or "void" except for "exposed hydrophobic markings".
What should we call this?

My suggested name is: leak
As in, the oily sidechains that are supposed to be inside are leaking out to the surrounding ocean instead of being contained within.
Click the up arrow if you like this idea, click the down arrow if you don't like it.
For the red ball: blob
For the red arrow: worm or Sputnik :)
Just to clarify, this name should make sense in a sentence such as this:
<ul><li>"If you hover your mouse cursor over the __, a tooltip will pop up explaining what it is."</li></ul>
It should also have an obvious plural form, along the lines of "clashes" or "voids".

"Show all clashes"
"Clear all 5 clashes to win the level"
"Separate the sidechains to clear clashes"
"Show all juts"
"Bury 3 of 5 juts to win the level"
"Hide the hydrophobics to bury juts"
"This exposed hydrophobic sidechain is jutting out into the surrounding water. Bury it back into the oily interior."
I probably shouldn't have called this "The Great Issue Naming Contest", as it's more of a brainstorming session… I'm going to try a few of these out to see how well they'd fit in the game.
