Just a neutral opinion from the perspective of a research student, no offense here. I'm not connected to foldit nor participated in the VHL series as player, however I've seen you urging the publication of puzzle results several times already.
Scientific publication is rarely a fast process, many steps and people would be involved. If you really want to have your name on a scientific publication - I also want it myself! Try to find a way to write the manuscript yourself.
I'm also trying! I plan my research with the help of my supervisor, I did the research myself, I adjusted the plan and rerun experiments as I get unexpected results, and repeated these steps for years. Finally the outcome got approved by my supervisor and collaborators, and I can finally start writing about it! Then having my drafts rejected by supervisor and collaborators, rewriting, repeat… I'm also waiting for a day to publish, but of my own work as the first author.
If you are a student, grab an opportunity to participate in research projects. Before you get the chance, be curious and learn more, broaden your knowledge base so you have the skill and confidence to do the research you're interested in. This is more useful for yourself and your future, instead of sitting there urging others to do the work for you. The learning process is steep and can be frustrating, but it's totally worth it.
The paper has been submitted, and has been sent out to other scientists for peer review. We're still waiting to get reviewer comments back. The review process has taken an unusually long time, as the journal had some (unspecified) issues getting peer reviewers for it. As rosie4loop alludes to, this sort of thing happens, and you just have to be patient.
Hopefully the pace of things will pick up in the new year. Additionally, the KLHDC2 and CACHE results are proceeding nicely (but still a bit early to share results), so we'll hopefully pick up papers on those projects sometime this year as well. (But again, putting together papers can take time, so who knows when, exactly, they'll get published.)
