It's time to unleash the Foldit Demographic Survey 2015! You may find it here:

http://fold.it/portal/node/2001096

Remember, the more data we have, the better we can accurately represent Foldit players in our work! Please spread the word and tell your group members, plus those friends who may be disinclined towards doing more than speeding past the news box when booting up Foldit. It's totally optional, just like it always has been, but it is absolutely appreciated by the entire team. You don't need to be logged in to fill this out - but if you are, we do not publish names attached to results, we just want the results! You can however, log out and take it anonymously, if that makes you more inclined to participate.

Thanks again for your time! This survey will only be open from September 8 - October 8, 2015.

I logged out and was able to able to complete it, also there are a number of anonymous entries already.

Please note, logged in or not, identifying information will not be published.

Do you calculate some core statistics out of your own records in order to be able to "calibrate" your results, and make hypotheses on the non-response drivers? (structural differences between non-repondents and respondents).

For the cooperativeness of my own responses, I would appreciate guidelines for answering the questions "Number of year experience in programming" etc. How should I interpret this? The difference between a programmer, 100% of his/her studies or work and someone who uses to program once a month inside another job during years? If it is the "main activity", I have zero year experience in computer, biology or chemistry, if it is "any side activity", it's many years for all of them. Would it be relevant to ask only for qualitative categories like answering on a line 1 to 10 the evaluation of expertise (10 = professional expert; 9 = professional junior 8 = good knowledge … 1 basic notions at school … 0 = don't even know what "biochemistry" means …)

Keeping in mind that no matter how we ask the questions there are always going to be some sort of liberal interpretations. But this is good feedback, and can actually go a bit towards simplifying future versions of the demographic survey!

IMO (and folks may think differently), if I do something as a significant component of my day to day work activity/free time, then it's suitable to count it in years - and I dare say a lot of people think that way too. If it's a one off or rare thing, not so much. Maybe that helps you out some?
