Hello everyone,
Do you want to use your hands to fold the proteins? Here is the installer for Foldit + Kinect!

Kinect SDK on your PC is required to play Foldit with Kinect.

Should you have any comments or suggestions, please PM "dyh"
It will be useful to add the minimal configuration to this announcement. What operating systems are supported by the Kinect SDK and this foldit version ? What CPU, is there a need for a particular brand of GPU ? Also, can you please post the instruction manual for the Kinect hand movements ?
I have not installed it yet, I do not want to mess up an XP64 install to find out it is not supported by the SDK.
You need a windows 7 pc to install the kinect SDK. I'm not so sure about the minimum requirement for the hardware, but Kinect needs better hardware to handle its data stream. From the windows experience index (access from computer->right click->properties) I would probably say to have CPU scored 7+ and graphics score 6+ would give you better detection on Kinect.
These instructions are in the intro puzzles:
- Try using one hand first. Your hand is individually mapped so the hand cursor will show up in the game screen when you put your hand in the blue box in the kinect view panel. A good starting point is try put your hand near your shoulder. You don't need to move your hand a lot to navigate the whole screen.
- Close your hand to launch the tool of your hand; open your hand to stop the action.
- Stretch your hand toward the ground will give you system menu (ground plane will light up); stretch your hand to the background will give you hand menu. When the menu show up move your hand to the direction to choose, and put your hand back to finish the selection.
- If freeze is available, the way to use it is put one hand to the position you want to freeze and use the other hand to access the freeze in the menu.
