The third Foldit paper that Zoran had mentioned in his blogpost has been accepted in the journal Nature Biotechnology! Congrats again Foldit players, your amazing results just keep coming!

To keep those great results coming, we are going to significantly extend the CASP ROLL puzzle deadlines to make sure you have enough time to thoroughly try out and improve all 10 starting models. Last December we gave you 3 weeks to solve the structure of MPMV-PR so we want to make sure to provide enough time again this year for these two structures! (IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE LOADING THESE LARGE PUZZLES try checking the box "disable network timeouts" when you login). We will still post non-CASP puzzles as well so you don't get too sick of these CASP targets.

Congrats again to you all for yet another Nature publication. Keep up the great work!

If 1b and 2b are not the last times that we'll see these puzzles, would it be possible to enable the option of loading old manual saves from previous rounds next time?

This will not be the last puzzles for targets R0001 & R0002.
We will try a type of All-Hands refinement with those targets in January, and let you load previous solutions.

I assume that you can't give us details on the content of this paper until the embargo that journals normally impose is lifted. Any idea on when that will be?

Due to the embargo, I can only repost what Zoran had already mentioned in his blogpost:

"A new enzyme has been developed AND confirmed in the lab that has improved over other known enzymes focusing on Diels-Alder reactions. In this case the scientists used the novel backbone configuration from the Foldit players, and redesigned the sidechains. the paper is in preparation."

I can tell you that we recently posted yet another Foldit puzzle on this protein (to address one of the reviewer comments):
http://fold.it/portal/node/991298 I am sure many of you recognized this protein since we've posted so many puzzles about it!

We don't know Nature's timeline, but we just sent back the final draft (addressing the reviewer comments) so the next step is waiting for them to send the final proofs back to us. We'll let you know when that happens since the paper usually comes out within a month after that.
