SSL Connect error

Hi everyone, we recently updated some of the security credentials for the game. If you get an error that says "SSL Connect error" while trying to log in, you will need to redownload and reinstall the game to fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you have never done this before, be sure to save your "all.macro" file from your current client to install into your new client - otherwise you will lose your entire cookbook. You can do the same with your "options.txt".
The best solution is to rename your current Foldit program, then reinstall… that way you will have backups of your cookbook, options and your expired puzzles.

We apologize for all of this and hope that we'll be able to avoid this next time (2 years from now!).

See http://fold.it/portal/node/997567#comment-27405 for a procedure which preserves your puzzle history (such as tracks on current puzzles) in addition to all.macro.

Basically, make a new installation to a different location, then copy two directories and two files listed in the feedback to the location of the failing client. This approach works on Windows, but it may apply to the other platforms.

If you have multiple clients and some are working, just copy the four items from a working client.

I run multiple clients, each started from its own directory, so c:\foldit1, c:\foldit2, and so on. I found that some clients were updated, some weren't. The clients that were updated 4/27 could connect, the ones updated 4/24 couldn't. I copied the directories and files in the feedback to fix the failing clients.

No matter what I do or how I install the program I keep getting the "SSL Connect error". Nothing works.

I have installed fresh downloaded version, moved cook book file (all.macro) to new installation and it works correctly :)
