We wanted to let you know that we will be discussing the exciting results from the Foldit vs. UMich Electron Density Challenge at the next Scientist Chat (next month)!

In order to publish any of these results, however, we have to follow the new authorship policy that journals have implemented now requiring author names and affiliations for all authors. Previously, we used "Foldit Players" (or Players, F.) to represent all of you.

Therefore, we ask that if you were one of the 471 soloists who played Puzzle 1152 and you would like to be listed by name as an author for any publication about this puzzle (you will be under the group consortium "Foldit Players"), please contact us by 23:00 GMT on Friday July 22nd by emailing your complete real name</u> (we cannot use your username) to:

[email removed due to spam]

We would like to emphasize that this is completely voluntary, as we would of course also have a statement in the acknowledgements thanking all Foldit players, just not by name.

How do you know random people are not adding their names to the publication? You may end up with a few thousand soloist :)

Shouldn't users email their user name along with their real name? That way you could send confirmation emails to their registered email addresses.

Thinking about it some more I realize you must send the request using the email you signed up with. I have multiple addresses and will need to make sure to use the right one.

Thanks for bringing this up.

We will also be emailing those who played Puzzle 1152 (and didn't opt out of email contact), but we wanted to post this to let everyone know… and just in case some of you play the game but don't check your email as often.

Emailing us your username is a good idea, we just wanted to make it clear that journals will not publish usernames… they require your full name.

Either way, for those who want their real names published as part of the group consortium "Foldit Players", there will be more to the process than us just forwarding a journal all the names we receive by email.

I'll probably put it on my CV, my resume, my biosketch, etc. Might make for an interesting point of conversation during my next job interview.
