allow each account to create a second 'IRC ONLY' key

Allow creation of a second 'irc_only' account based on the existing acct. Making a second account with no  'productive use' would artificially inflate
our user counts while reducing any 'per user' statistics. As posted in another forum post it appears some use irc as a way to stay in touch when they aren't folding (GASP!). So for each acct, there are actually 'two' account keys created, the main one, and one with "_IRC" or something to
distinguish it. <!–break–> This allows account linking and user 'tracking' without
wondering who is who and what is what.<div class="content">

Again, to be clear, on my account page there could be two keys listed, one is for the 'main' account and the second one is for IRC only 'access', which would be nick_irc. This could also be an 'elected' choice, as well, so we don't have to see two pieces of info that for some of us, would be used.

IRC key: BLAH_BLAH

I had considered doing so, but there were several reasons why I didn't. First, there could be conflicts if someone else creates an account ending in "_irc" (e.g. if someone else had already signed up as Cerberus128_irc). I could just disallow usernames ending in "_irc" but I don't necessarily want to do that.

Second, I don't want to create such an account automatically. Few, very few people will use it. There is little harm in people creating non-playing IRC accounts, because we know who plays and who doesn't.

That said, for convenience, I could add a button to your profile that would automatically register another "_irc" account in your name, if the nick was not taken. I think that would be sufficient. I don't know when I would get around to this, but it seems a good idea.

I hacked that post to death trying to get my point across and somehow I lost a BUNCH of content. But you got the gist :-D

I had suggested a button as a CHOICE to make a new acct and also suggested as you did that it would be subject to duplicates.

Righto, thanks for explaining. Yes, that's a good idea. I don't know when I'll get to it as it's low priority, but I will do it eventually.
