Crashes are annoying, but why?

It's bad enough that the Foldit client crashes from normal gameplay. Why do the non-critical silly messages throw me out of the game. I can understand if it is a software update, having to log back in because you want to tell about a pointless live chat or other news that should be disseminated over the "Notifications" chat communication.

It wastes my time and lowers my performance on puzzles. The puzzles are why we are here. Not your self-serving back-patting sessions.

Hi fishercat, that sounds like a bug. Foldit messages and news items should not crash Foldit or interrupt your session.

Can you give some more details about when this crash occurred? Were you actively playing a puzzle when Foldit crashed? What was the non-critical message that threw you out of the game?
