(3D) There could also be separate color wheels like below
for the dots and connectors:
In the wheel above, the top section could say "Purple" instead
of "Default". The blue circle in the center shows the default
color, which will be used for the next dot or connector placed
onto the ED Cloud. To change the default color, just click on
the blue circle, then click on the section of the outer circle
for the desired new default color. The new default color will
then appear in place of blue in the circle at the center of
the wheel.
Having separate color wheels for the dots and connectors gives
many different color combinations that could help distinguish
different parts of the ED Cloud. With just 4 colors in each
color wheel, one could have 16 color combinations: red dots
w/red connectors, blue dots w/blue connectors, red dots w/blue
connectors, blue dots w/red connectors, etc. Allowing multiple
connector types gives even more combinations.
Using a wheel like below could give 11 colors, with the default
color (here purple) in the inner circle. You could just replace
the icons in each section with paint containers and color names
like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, dark-gray,
light-gray, white, and brown, for example. Again, the next dot
or connector placed in the ED Cloud would have the default color.
Also, to change the default color, just click on the inner circle,
then click on one of the sections in the outer circle to pick the
new default color.
A similar wheel with 13 sections could be used for the connector
types discussed in (3) (3B) & (3C) above: 12 sections for rectangles,
wide cylinders, narrow cylinders, or line segments with forward,
reverse, or no arrows, plus a 13th section for no connectors at all.
Again, the default type would be shown in the inner circle, and the
default type could be changed by clicking on the inner circle, then
clicking on one of the sections in the outer circle.
