The exploration map is not very useful in insertion and mutation problems like puzzle 402. I don't know if it is technically possible but it would be useful if there was a display on exploration map or similar tool which showed what number of aminoacid insertions are producing what kind of results for other people.
If this is too difficult to program, during the course of the puzzle some information on this could be posted as a comment to the puzzle on the website.
