OMG. Who thought it was a good idea to make everything on the screen but the protein fade out when you move it? That's maddening! I am sure I am not the only one going insane from the distractions of the new, ever-changing screen.
There is absolutely no benefit to this, unless making players psychotic is the goal.
FoldIt team: Please deep-six this "feature", and exchange it for something useful, like the ability to re-size the chat windows.
If you go to menu, general options, and check show advanced gui, there is a checkbox to disable the fade.
On my slow PC, I find it useful!
It prevents a slideshow-look-alike when moving the puzzle on slow machines.
Seth… I must have gone blind, as well as psychotic. There is no checkbox that would allow me to disable the fade. See attached screenshot.
Please advise. Is there a new version of FoldIt out there I don't have?
OK… I finally found the button. But it's not in General Options.

Sorry, my instructions were not clear. Once you enable the advanced gui the gui fade checkbox is in the view options.
