Make educational puzzzles

Can puzzles be made for education purposes? It would be nice to be able to have puzzles for middle/high school classes based on the topic they are learning. Please share your thoughts!

The Federation of American Scientists provide a raft of information in the Learning Technologies Program this material has high level of integration into the current US curriculum and they are interested in how teachers are integrating these initiatives into classes.
