Make LUA commands for the Trim and UnTrim buttons

Would it be possible to make LUA commands for 
the Trim and UnTrim buttons that were available 
in the 588-residue ED Puzzle 2155b? Then it
would be possible for us to make recipes that
incorporate these functions.

I looked for other Feedbacks requesting this,
but the closest I found was the discussion below:
