On searching the new web site.

Would it be possible to include a search function in each forum, or for perhaps even for the whole of forums? The new format gives us small bits of information at a time, and even that is hard to read due to the choice of font and background color. So it would be extremely helpful to search for the topic we want to see instead of having to scan line by line and page by page for the item we were looking for. Also it might be a good idea to include the year an item was entered so we don't mistake an old version for a new one.

It's easy to miss, but there is a "Search Topics and Posts" box at the top of all screens in the forum area. You can type in a search query there. If you're in "Bugs", it starts by searching just that area. You're then offered the option to "search everywhere". It seems like starting at the main "All Messageboards" page searches all forums.

The results are returned in date order, most recent first, with just the month and day shown for the current year. There's no way to sort or filter by date. Also, the results don't show which forum each post appeared in.

The results also show the number of posts in each thread.

I don't think there's a way to search the entire website, but you can add "site:fold.it" to a Google query, which is how the old search worked.

Searching via google should get better over time. Right now the search engines are trying to map out the new site, but it's going to be a while before they catch up.

Mostly good news, I tried Googling "rebuild site:fold.it", and it produces a page of links, all going to the old website. (Links to the old site show as as "https://foldit.it > portal" or "http://fold.it > portal" in the results.)

Looking at the first few results, it seems like links to to posts are successfully redirected to the new website.

There are also several links to recipes in the first page of "rebuild" results. These links fail. These are apparently for V1 recipes that were removed in the conversion to the new site. They produce a "not found" page, which claims to have a link to the old website. While the text display for the link is correct, the actual URL is wrong, so the link fails. I'll report that on Bugs. It seems like it would be a relatively easy fix.
