Reset for "Restore very best"

"Restore very best" is a important, if you have gotten a good result which disappeared again, especially when doing tweak/rotate.

But you can't use it anymore, if you start a new try on the same puzzle, for example with another alignment, or a starting position with lower scores, because then, it will change to your old try.

So, my suggestion is to have an option to clear the very best result, as mentioned in some threads ago.

kind regards,
Alex

At the moment, there are some multi-start-puzzles available.
I would be good to have this feature, kindly remembering of it ;)

If you kill the 'very best', it needs to have a confirmation dialog. It needs to not only kill you locally, but kill you from the server as well…you should lose your score as if you have never played the puzzle before.

As such, it needs to be secure…someone shouldn't be able to hack the server to kill off someone else's score. You have to be sure that the command is coming from a validated account.

If you can't do it right, don't do it at all. The current functionality isn't terrible. There have been times I wanted to erase my score and truly start over, but the way it is isn't bad.

The main reason for a "restore very best" reset to me is, that you will be able to use it again, if you start a puzzle over (other alignment or multi-start position), it is more the shape of the puzzle, and not the score itself.
The probnlem at the moment is, if you choose another start shape, you can't use "reset very best" anymore, because it will bring you back to the last improved start shape.

workaround: erase all files linked to puzzle. Except one very best manual save. Then start over.

Top points are send to server, U can reinstall foldit - score stays but U don`t have saved structures.
Same thing when U start folding on different machine - if U have self/group shared saves U can continue. Otherwise starting over.
