Description

This is a repost of Puzzle 1340, now with an electron density map! This protein is secreted at the site of inflammation, recruiting monocytes and T cells to help fight an infection. This protein contains four cysteine residues that oxidize to form two disulfide bonds. We are revisiting old Foldit puzzles so we can see how useful the recent additions to the game have been. Players may load in solutions from Puzzle 1340.

Scores aren't loading for me. Am running the latest Main version (with GUI Recipes fix). Have restarted the client with no change. Resource Manager shows two IPs associated with FoldIt.exe. One leads here and has ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS) open, with the most periodic traffic (despite the site not having been loaded yet). The other IP is associated with port 6667 and I know that's the IRC server, and it has barely any traffic (chat's slow currently). Seems perhaps like it might be client related? CRC mismatch, where the game is expecting the server to send a file with a specific date/time code and it doesn't have it? (I only know enough to theorize, not to know with any certainty it's that...)

Just as I was about to post this, the scoreboards finally loaded… All details seem important so I'm at least leaving the text since it might yet be a problem that could resurface.

As we get more acquainted with this puzzle type, perhaps adding some noise (fake or real) around the real Density would complicate the work of locating the chain inside the density cloud and look more like when we have a density cloud in real life.

Thanks

Why is it that segments 1-9 are not a part of the cloud? It puzzled me at first, because I thought that I had the backbone incorrect, but after playing with the threshold, it appears that I have it pretty close.<p>
It doesn't seem logical to have a segment count mismatch between the protein and the ED.
