Sorry! - We had meant to explain this category prior to using it.

We're trying out a new way of introducing new puzzles. If a puzzle is out of devprev testing, but we're still in a state of heavy refinement, we've added the Experimental category to keep it segregated from the normal puzzles.

This is useful because, if there are issues with the puzzle, they wont affect your Overall or other category scores. It also gives credit to players who are adapting to the new rulesets the fastest.

To answer your question of why this puzzle is in the Experimental category - it is part of a 2-stage puzzle set. You'll see a Sketchbook version of this puzzle right after this one expires in a couple of days.

ao this does not count towards the above?

Incidentally - the in game scoreboards are not working - and I notice the usual practice of giving the sequence has been omitted.

It won't contribute to the scores in the Overall scores or ranks.

We're working on the game scoreboards right now - there's an issue with the disks on the server being too slow. This slowness is causing the scoreboard updater script to "freeze", so we're upgrading the hardware to solve this.

please post in the puzzle description above that scores will not count in the game….this is the usual way to do it - make sure players know.

I, for one , am now closing the puzzle……we are being mislead.

thank you

As confirmed by jflat06 in #veteran, this puzzle awards global points in the usual fashion.

Global points contribute to your overall rank as a soloist or evolver, as seen on your profile page and elsewhere. Groups also receive global points.

The only difference for this puzzle is that it's not in the "overall" category, so it won't affect the standings in that category.

The category scores and ranks show up only on the category pages, which I suspect don't get visited all that often.

I for one pay limited attention to the points. Those of us who limit play either due to life and or computer constraints will never be top players unless scores are based on points per puzzle.
We all know who folds well after a while. Not worth losing sleep over this, but thanks for worrying jflat
