Testing out the symmetry puzzle - I did something simple. I made one end a helix and the other end a sheet. Did Ideal SS on the helix, froze it, then went to pull the sheet into position - the client crashed instantly.

Beginner BeginnerThis is a small symmetric trimer design puzzle. A symmetric protein relies not only on how well folded each part is, but also on how well they interface together. Your changes will be reflected in the symmetric unit. Make sure you have completed Intro Puzzle 5-2, and 7-1 through 7-4. For players with fewer than 150 global points.

If you want to fold proteins, know that there are many ways to play and this variety is the main value of Foldit :
- try all puzzles not only "Beginners" ones,
- fold first the ones you like the most,
- try it by yourself to understand what works and what doesn't,
- ask for tips in global chat when you think you don't understand something.
Make sure you have followed these tutorials:
- Lonely Sheets,
- Lock and Lower,
- Rebuild,
- Structure and Rebuild,
- Movin' Along,
- Control over Clashing,
- Intro to Design,
- Swappin' Sidechains,
- Mass Mutate,

Symmetry puzzles haven't been working right in quite a while.
I tried this one, and got a crash on Windows when I followed the general steps SaraL listed. Pulling on the sheet seemed to cause the crash.
I got a little further using cutpoints, but hit a crash again a few minutes later while running a recipe.
Obviously some people are either lucky or very persistent and are able to make progress despite the crashes.
