Novice Overall Prediction Electron DensityThis puzzle features a protein designed by fiendish_ghoul in Puzzle 1321! We recently solved the crystal structure of this protein, and here we are providing players with the refined electron density map at a resolution of 1.83 A. The crystal's electron density shows that this protein folds up exactly as fiendish_ghoul designed it, with RMSD of 1.1 A among C-alpha atoms! We want to give Foldit players a chance to see this electron density data and fold up the protein to fit the map.
This puzzle also features the new "Radius" setting in the Electron Density panel, which allows you to focus on smaller map regions by hiding peripheral density. For this feature, we recommend turning off "Fixed camera pivot" in your General Options, so that you can easily move the focus point around the density map.

The Foldit team gave something a gentle nudge, and now we have scores.
The scoreboard should be fixed now.
A design with some distinguishing features In the side chain department would be nice for ED :) Great work fiendish.
There is a kind of central symmetry in this design.
Turning my solution in the cloud laterally (inverting the 2 helices) gives an almost perfect fit of the sheets (including sidechains) in the cloud.
The helices backbones fit too. Only the sidechains of the helices are not perfectly in their cloud.
The result has quite a high score. That means that the solution per se is relatively stable, and that the additional density score doesn't change much between the 2 different positions into the density cloud. It's possible that other players just have to turn their solution in order to get more points ;)
I shared the turned (second best) solution to scientists.
When Puzzle 1847 ends, please share images of both ways
in Chat for inclusion in the Foldit Wiki. It would be
interesting to see the difference and how you knew your
solution's orientation needed to be changed.
