Puzzle 1957 already exists! -> rename to 1958 ??
Closed since about 5 years ago
Novice Overall Prediction Electron DensityThis is a followup to Puzzle 1952, now starting from the structure that was originally published. This protein is part of a large protein complex with multiple subunits, which was recently solved by cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) at 4.2A resolution. Unfortunately, the solved structure could really use some work so we are hoping you can improve the structure. The starting structure also includes several locked protein fragments in the electron density cloud. These are additional proteins that are also present, and are expected to make interactions with the final folded structure. Good luck!

This is 1958.
It'll be up to BKoep if he feels its necessary, given it's technically a minor, non-game breaking issue…. But on the other hand, IS going to be confusing at times for the next week. lol
Personally, I'm not sure I'd rank it "Novice" either, but it is certainly easier compared to the last one, since it's not a Prediction puzzle.
I renamed it to 1958 :-)
We'll keep it at Novice because you can still fold this puzzle without the density (so novices can still enjoy it ;-)
Will Puzzle 1958 load solutions
from Puzzle 1952?
Are the ED cloud and locked structures the same
in both Puzzles 1952 & 1958? If we have identical
unlocked structures in 1952 & 1958, should our
scores in both puzzles be the same? If all these
things are the same, why not let us load solutions
from 1952 into 1958? So far, 1958 has not let me
load solutions from 1952.
I'm sorry that this is not possible, but fixing the bug (which caused the locked residues in 1952 to explode) has made loading in previous solutions impossible.
Is scoring the same in 1952 & 1958?
Right now my score in 1958 is better
than any score I got in 1952. My best
1958 solution also looks better than
my best in 1952.
That's right, the both puzzles use the same map and the same score function.
