Description

Researchers at Dartmouth College are trying to determine the structure of the Id2 protein, and have asked for Foldit's help! Id2 is a regulatory protein that has been implicated in some brain cancers. The N- and C-terminal tails of Id2 are very important for the protein's function, but the structure of these regions is unknown. Help determine the structure of this Id2's tail regions in its symmetric dimer form! The central helices of this protein are held in place by constraints, although some slight movement is allowed. Also, note that the serine at position 14 has a negatively charged phosphate group attached. Read the blogpost for more info!

CASP is upon us, and we get a large symmetry puzzle!

Perhaps a a few more days are warranted for this puzzle? :)

Not really from what I've seen. I've tried jpred and phyre and it's coming up with 60+ residues of loops

Here is the sequence logo predicted by the SAM server:

H = helix
E = sheet
C = loop (or coil)

The taller the letter at each position, the higher the probability of that specific secondary structure for that amino acid.
