Thanks for the link, looks like I'll have to edit options.txt to devprev and see if that works. Meanwhile I'm just playing EteRNA where my global rank is now #47. It would be interesting if Foldit also had a global rank too, as it's difficult to comprehend how well I'm doing on the protein folding.

Hi guys. I'm new. Downloaded Foldit-win_x86.exe. When I attempt to run I get "Foldit-win_x86.exe is not a valid application". Can you help me out?
Just by way of context, I have recently downloaded fah-installer.7.6.8_x86.exe and run that to give folding@home with no problems.

I'm trying a fresh download right now, but it's very slow. It's currently estimated to take over an hour, which may be mostly due to my bad internet.
I did a couple of new downloads three weeks ago, and end up with a file size of 169,800 KB for Foldit.win_x86.exe, as seen in Windows Explorer. The detailed properties are 173,874,518 bytes for size or 173,875,200 bytes for "size on disk". (Right-click, select "Properties" for that.)
That's at least one thing to check, make sure you have the complete file, and no Foldit.win_x86.exe.part hanging round.
The download just finished, after around an hour.
The newly downloaded file matches the stats from the ones earlier in the month, so 169,800 KB, etc.
The new download starts and installs normally.
