Now on another machine (Windows 10 VM on Unraid), both Firefox and MS Edge are OK.
I still have one machine where both Firefox and MS Edge aren't working correctly.
I enabled the console in both, and found somewhat different sets of errors reported.
Here's a selection of what I found.
As shown here in Edge, both browsers reported "your wish did not come true". Edge also reported various "WEBGL_polygon_mode not enabled" errors, which weren't seen in Firefox.

Edge showed a "resize canvas" error early on.

Firefox seems to have a similar error, but it leaves off the name of function:

Edge reported this "blocking on main thread" issue:

Firefox showed several messages that didn't seem to have an obvious counterpart in Edge.
There was this "prevent default" warning:

And several "bad cap" messages:

And a "set capture" message:

The URL https://play.fold.it/api/get_news gives a "bad gateway" error.
@LociOiling bad gateway error and "wish did not come true" message should both be soft errors and neither should be related to pulling. The news tab is a proof of concept for the web frontend at best and communication issues with the server should have no impact on the in game experience of the education puzzles in the web client.
I'm still sort of perplexed given the amount of variation from machine to machine, but maybe the existence of the bug on a laptop but not a desktop is a lead to it being somehow performance related.
The laptop that's the problem is actually the newest of the lot, and should have plenty of power. According to system information:
I'm installing a Windows update now (2025-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5065789) (26100.6725)), and will double-check the display drivers and settings when that finishes.
Meanwhile, I managed to create another crash just trying to finish "Intro to Foldit" in Edge.

The log file is attached:
Edge 2025-09-30_14-45 play.fold.it-1759098311886.log
Just for completeness, here are the log files corresponding to the screenshots in the earlier post. There was no crash with these tests, just the problem with clicks being offset from the desired position.
I installed Chrome on the problem system. I'm running into exactly the same problems in Chrome.
Here's the Chrome console log, no smoking gun that I can see:
Chrome 2025-10-02_20-00 play.fold.it-1759453131036.log
