If you could add one tool to the game, what would it be?

More control of the lock/unlock feature is needed. Having to select all or nothing and then change the rest one at a time is tedious. I am thinking something akin to dragging a mouse box and having the side chains inside the box switch their locked status. That way you could unlock a helix or sheet in one mouse movement instead of a long series of clicks, giving you quicker manipulation of only the areas you intend to work with.

EDIT:

So, talk about foot in mouth, only minutes later I found the local wiggle feature which does exactly what I was looking for. However, I still think a more powerful lock feature would be a nice addition.

As it is not clear whether it is better to first shake and then wiggle or vice versa, why not add a tool that 'unshakes', I mean that it turns all sidechains into a random rotation. This can be handy to put some strain in the whole protein. A wiggle after and the protein might fold slightly different when it tries to come back to the original position.

ok, but the greatest tool of all would be that you can upload your own pdb-file and fold your own protein for that matter. I guess something like that will be possible in the future, but it will of course take some time to develop.

I would love to be able to export my structures to .pdb format, so I could look at them in Pymol. A feature that lets one color by residue, secondary structure, etc. would be great too.

Morphing two solutions, or, which is easier to realize, make the bands snap to the guide, so you can morph manually by having one actual solution and load the second as guide.

A tool where the player selects two or more sheets and FoldIt tries to automatically align those. Could somehow work in combination with rebuild. (I know it's possible to set up rubber bands between two sheets and let rebuild one, but this doesn't work very well. I think if we told FoldIt directly that we want to align these sheets, it could be done much better.)

I'd like a tool to gently compress the protein (or a section) by degrees and then hold it, as if I were squeezing clay in the palm of my hand. Then I'd wiggle and shake sidechains to see if they could arrange themselves to a better position. I'm picturing the graphic element as a bubble or a wide ring. Conceptually this is pretty different from the other tools.
