The new update is posted! Here are a few more of the new features we've added:

New layout and colors: The layout of the GUI has been modified. For example, the score is now in the middle of the screen at the top, and there are easily accessible buttons for resetting the puzzle and going to the puzzle select screen. The colors of the protein have been changed some as well. A sidechain's color is now based on whether it is hydrophobic or not, and the backbone colors have been slightly adjusted.

In-game account creation: It is possible to create an account from within the game. So it's easier than ever to make an account and track your progress if you haven't already!

The new update keeps crashing. Also where can i find out more information about the nature of the protein I am folding.

Cheers

Many of the improvements are nice. To give you a short feedback on the negative points:

  • The game often freezes on me, sometimes permanently. I'm sure this will get fixed, but I have only spent a few minutes on the updated game as a result.

  • The "To best autosave" button and keyboard shortcut now clears the graph window. As a result, you can't "undo" that move. This is definitely not a good idea - I often compared the position I'm working on to the best one, and can't do that anymore.

  1. What happened to the bar graph for the points? I used that all the time, and looking at decimal point numbers is not user friendly at all. That and Dejerphas comment on the undo change are significant to the way I play.

  2. More real estate is being used–I don't like the boxes at the top and top left–I minimize many of the windows to fit the most puzzle available onto the screen. I'd prefer to pick the anchor point for each box. There should also be the ability to close a box by right clicking it.

  3. Allowing the chat window to be resized is good for those long philosophical debates that appear, not that I've ever particpated it any …

  4. The game appears to be working much more slowly for all features. It is particularly noticeable with rebuilds. I am not sure if rebuild is working at all and then all of a sudden it jumps. If that has to do with improving the simulation, so be it but it is very obvious this game version is overall going the wrong direction in terms of speed.

  5. I'm not sure the marking of exposed hydrophobics and issue analysis really helps; remains to be seen (it seems to distract me from my normal view of the protein.)

  6. It seems to crash a lot; any time you try and do anything too quickly, such as when you start rubber banding before the shake graphic stops. This is a game of a lot of sequences, so this really slows it up to the point of near unusability for me. I am not sure the testers may be aware of how fast we move these things around.

That's it for now …

  1. Constant lockups now, vs. the old crashing to the desktop (Win XP). At least that was controllable if you didn't do the death key combo.

  2. Opening the program always ends in tutorial mode. The "Load Puzzles" option box is gone, along with the puzzle selection.

  3. View options are not saved. Requires resetting at every login.

  4. Slow

  5. No score bar - let's have that AND the decimal option.

  6. Don't like the big "Wiggle Backbone" graphic (in top left, or anywhere). Can't it be small like "Shake Sidechains" ?
