We have enabled a rating system on the site, so you can rate feedback issues, blog entries, forum topics, and comments anywhere on the site. The purpose of the system for most posts is to express whether the post you are voting for is good, not to express disagreement with its content. If a post is well-written, well-argued, well-founded, helpful, useful, informative, true, or just generally good, you should feel confident in voting it up. If it is an opposite of any of the above, disagreeable, offensive, or false, you should feel confident in voting it down.
For the feedback tracker, the system has a special purpose. For the comments, you would still use it as above, but for the actual issues, your vote should be an expression of whether you want the feature implemented or the problem fixed or the question answered. If you do, vote for it. If you do not care too much for it, just leave it be, and if you think it would be harmful, vote it down.
