by clicking on the ABOUT section at the top of the Foldit webpage.
We'll be hosting a developer chat in the next week to discuss this and other issues.
Flaming is commenting which disparages other users of the site on a personal level.
Trolling is commenting designed to provoke an emotional reaction, rather than contribute to a debate. Repeatedly posting the same comment or argument regardless of context will also fall under this heading.
Spamming or flooding is comment that is wholly off-topic or repetitive, an advertisement for another site, product or service.
This site Kidsworld has quite good rules aimed at youger people:
Now there is one set of rules for everyone.
Heres hoping EVERYONE takes notice.
Yes, there are problems when we get a classroom that is unsupervised in global, but the mods do their best to handle those situations.
I suspect that the guidelines, adapted from the TWiT irc website, cover most if not all situations for intelligent people of all ages, without getting bogged down with definitions and specific situations.
Trying to define certain situations is impossible, imho - comment that is wholly off-topic is something that every single folder does in global. It would be incredibly boring to discuss nothing but proteins every minute, and no one would stay here (someone says hello and it will not be tolerated??).
Looking forward to the dev chat for all of us to discuss :-)
Good to see some rules in place. I would like to point out a few things that were perhaps missed:
1: Are there any particular topics that cannot or should not be discussed in chat? (ie. religion, politics, etc.)
2: Can people contact moderators via personal messaging, when they have a personal dispute they need help with?
3: The page is titled "Guidelines", but they are clearly rules. Consider changing this to Rules, so you don't have any jerks that come along and say "hey, I don't have to follow this, because it says Guidelines".
what I read, those aspects are covered.
and they seem fairly comprehensive to me.
Most people are okay in chat anyway
just providing some examples to inform the discussion, and putting forward the suggestion that the guidelines should also apply to posting in feedback and the forum. To keep it simple.

would seem to be the guidelines you mentioned.
