The Critical Assessment of protein Structure Prediction (CASP) experiment is a worldwide competition in protein structure prediction, designed to track the the progress of science in this field. CASP11 takes place this summer, and there are still two more weeks to register before the initial targets are released in May! As usual, Foldit will submit predictions drawn from the top solutions on CASP target puzzles, however we encourage all Foldit groups and individual players to submit their own predictions to CASP as independent teams. It's a great opportunity to see how your folding skills stack up against scientists and automated algorithms from around the world!
In 2012, the Foldit groups Anthropic Dreams, Contenders, and Void Crushers participated in CASP10. You can find some of those results highlighted in this blog post. If you're interested in participating in CASP11, send a message to bkoep and we'll help you get set up!
