Today, please enjoy our second Community Learning Exchange video, provided by the fantastic Bruno Kestemont. This video gets you started with some very basic editing recipe steps (scripts) for Foldit. Not only was he kind enough to do this in English, but his native speaking French as well.

Topics covered include:

  • An overview of how to make simple adjustments and test your script.
  • How to edit using the program "Notepad++", which is available here

Please enjoy.

Bruno,

Thank you for the video. I knew most of it but I still learned a few things.

One thing, instead of saving the file as .txt I save it as .lua. Later if you reopen the file it will automatically format for the LUA language. Also it's easier to keep track of LUA scripts.

You write excellent innovative scripts, also very clear to read inside of the code: good for learning !

Your BandedWormPairs, with its random bands and random bands in space (and contact embedded functions), is one of the few that can still pay on very end game when nothing else works.

That's why I simply made it Banded Worm Pairs Infinite Filter 1.1 in the video: after a day running, it can even unlock a solution. We call it bwpi.

Your Cut And Wiggle Everything v1.2 also inspired many recipes, including one of my preferred on "almost" end game (just before to switch to High wiggle power, when nothing else works): Cut And Wiggle v2 and others by zeroblue. We call it cw or caw.

Thanks and hopefully you'll provide us with other scripts !

Hey! I wish to make a script and a puzzle based
on the Herpes Simplex 2 virus. I am just a beginner. any advice would be helpful.

If anybody can post info about the proteins of HSV2, I would be grateful. I apologies if this post offends anybody. I am still new to the forums. PEACE
