<pre>(1) I just posted the Feedback below requesting LUA
command analogs for the Trim and UnTrim buttons:
https://fold.it/portal/node/2013246
Such commands should let us make recipes that
incorporate the Trim and UnTrim Tools.
(2) Will Trim & UnTrim be available in more puzzle
types? For players with slow computers, these tools
may be useful in a wide variety of puzzles, not just
in the unusual (so far) 588-residue ED Puzzles like
2155, 2155b, and 2158.
(3) I haven't used the Trim & UnTrim Tools very much
yet, but I am curious how they will handle frozen
segments, cuts, dots for marking the ED cloud, bands
between atoms, and bands to space. I think it would
be helpful if these tools would preserve as many of
these things as possible.
(3a) For example, I often use bands when working on
Foldit puzzles. It seems reasonable to expect that
if I place bands in the original protein, some will
still be present in the trimmed protein (like bands
between atoms on the trimmed protein or bands from
atoms on the trimmed protein to space). Other bands,
like ones connecting to the hidden part of the
protein, might not appear in the trimmed protein,
but I would want them to reappear when the UnTrim
Tool is used.
(3b) It would also help if frozen backbones or
sidechains from the original protein would stay
that way when Trim is used. Also, if some frozen
backbones or sidechains get hidden when Trim is
used, I would want them to reappear as frozen
when UnTrim is used.
(3c) If bands, cuts, or frozen segments are made
in the trimmed protein, I would want them to be
preserved when UnTrim is used and the rest of
the protein reappears. I think right now, if
I do Trim and then freeze some of the trimmed
protein's segments, these segments will become
unfrozen when I later use UnTrim. I would rather
have segments I freeze on the trimmed protein
stay that way when I use UnTrim.
Thanks for reading,

Good points- we are not putting puzzles that require the Trim tool up right now as we're making improvements to it, which I think might address most of the issues you raise (but I'll double check).
Is there a lua command for trim tool ?
One comment & one question:
1) Suppose we get a very big not solved ED "almost" polymer (replicates of the same monomer). Trim tool is great but I don't want to repeat the hand fold job several times.
2) Case of a big symmetric ED: would the trim tool "copy" the monomer we worked on, to the all symmetry once we untrim ?
Puzzle 2296 Evaluation: Trimmed (1/2 protein) doesn't seam to save memory or CPU usage as compared to "full protein".
I've 5 tacks of the same ED, running different actions or recipes. The (only) trimmed one occupies the top 4 for CPU and/or memory usage (it varies depending on the recipe's action).
It has impact on memory usage.
Wishlist about trim:
1) To have lua command for trim and untrim
2) Possibility to merge two or more trimmed solutions if there is no overlap between them
