I have recorded solutions in all the pending puzzles (mostly not too high yet), but "My Page" doesn't show any points for each puzzle, or a Global Score or Rank.
What am I missing in the game playing process? Do only the top scorers in each puzzle get points? I haven't found anything in the help or sparse documentation about this.
Why are there a whole bunch of people at the top of each puzzle with the same score, usually from the same group? Are groupl solutions flowing into the personal competition? That doesn't seem fair at all.
Your Global score is not computed except when each set of puzzles is expired. Each puzzle gets you a certain number of points based upon the score you got in that particular puzzle. They add those points up and that is your Global score and that score, compared to the other users, gives you your Global rank.
You're not the only person who thinks they should be separated into personal and group competitions. Part of the way the game works is that those in groups can work together to get higher scores by trying to improve each other's work. Solitary people are at a disadvantage in that regard, but everyone can join one of the groups. Someday they may separate it out so you never see one if you're in the other, but we don't know when or for sure if they will.
How are the points assigned when the puzzle ends?
Where is the formula or points schedule documented?
Does everyone get points who participated in that puzzle? If not, how far down the ranks do the points go?
There is no posted formula for it. It works like this, top gets 100 points and so on from there down to the bottom. I assume at the bottom everyone gets at least one for trying.
I see June 12th has come and gone, and there are still no points awarded for the puzzles that closed.
Is this normal - things don't happen as promised or expected???

Yes, it is normal that things don't instantly reflect the closed status. I've asked about it before and been told that it is basically a manual operation at this point in the game's development. That a cut-off is made, but the respective DB updates, rank points, and closed state of the puzzle don't generally appear until about a day later.
As for the points, you can look at the current closed puzzles and get a feel for it. It appears points are assigned based on the order of scores on the completed puzzle. 100 for best through 1 for lowest. And sort on a percentile basis I guess, so many people may score the same number of rank points, even though their scores are slightly different. They were in the same percentile of closing scores and so get the same points.
When are the puzzles locked? June 12th is pretty vague.
Is it 12:01 AM? 11:59:59 PM? What time zone? Are they automatically locked, or is this more human intervention?
It would seem unfair if peoplke quit working on a puzzle expecting it to be closed, and it's allowed to run on for most of a another day.

I've been trying to delete most of the ones that pop up in the blog, but I don't catch them often in the forums.
It sucks, anytime we try to be strict to keep out spammers it makes it so you players have a hard time attaching screenshots!
