Global Score Resets?

I've been following the project for some time and noticed that periodically a user's global score would decrease. Looking in the wiki, it states that Global Scores are calculated according to only the past 4 months worth of scores.

Is this there a certain date in which scores start being excluded. Or does it depend on the account creation date?

If anyone knows, I'm curious about that design decision

Your score in the Soloist Hall of Fame (http://fold.it/portal/players/s_ever) should never decrease.
Other scores only keep track of your last few months of playing.

Ah, thanks. I was just curious because I remember seeing retiredmike with a much larger score in the later part of last year.
