"even though Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) in multicelled organisms make up 30 to 50 percent of the proteins that genes are able to make, it turns out that at any given moment, they exist in the cell in only tiny amounts".

Many proteins have both disordered and ordered regions.

The disordered region may act as light "glue" or as messengers changing shape depending on the celll environment.

IDPs might play a role in communication/coordination. Their lifetime is short (produced then destroyed).
